Sally bowed her head a gritted her teeth as she shuffled though the busy halls of Virtual High School. Yesterday, after school, her and her sister Kathy had decided to make some drastic changes to their hair. Kathy had gotten some hot pink extensions while Sally had decided to dye her hair a completely different color. Her former dull, mousy brown hair was now a deep, magenta/purple and she had pulled it up into many, messy, tangled bunchies instead of just letting it hang down in her face. Last night, she thought it was a wild and daring thing to do but today, she had a price to pay. She narrowed her eyes at the memory of earlier that day.
When she had went down stairs that morning, her mother had shrieked and dropped her cup of coffee on the ground and her father had narrowed his eyes angrily at her.
"What did you do to your hair!" he had growled angrily.
Sally had just shrugged and grabbed an apple to eat. " I didn't like the way it looked before, so I dyed it! What does it look like?" she had stated bluntly.
Her father had then stood up and hit her hard across the cheek. " Don't you dare use that tone with me you little freak!" he shouted while her mother just stood there, staring sadly at the scene in front of her.
" I'd rather be a freak than a chirpy Ga Ga idiot!" Sally had screamed back. Then she had turned away, grabbed her backpack and stormed out the door, heading for school.
" Check out the freak !" a shrill voice cried, pulling Sally out of her memory. She closed her eyes and grumbled as she turned around and found herself face to face with Cici, the head Teen Queen. Her little followers where grouped up around her.
" Look at her hair!" a girl with her hair pulled into two bright pink and blue pigtails shrieked, pointing at Sally.
" Somebody got in a fight with the hair dye!" another girl with bright blue and yellow streaks in her hair jeered.
" Yeah and lost!" Cici finished while the other girls all shrieked and giggled loudly.
Sally glared at them, but she couldn't come up with a snappy reply. They just kept shrieking and laughing and pointing at her, causing the other Ga Ga Girls and Boy Zone Clones to stop and stare at her, laughing as well. She balled her hands into fists and glared daggers at everyone around her.
" Well, at least I don't look like a plastic freak!" she shouted at them all.
Sally stomped her foot angrily, glad that her combat boot made such a loud noise and turned to walk away, wishing deep down there was someone else in this school who understood her, who was different like her.
She didn't even know that there was...
