Hairspray, Mamma Mia, Chicago. This list could go on and on. Musical that were made into box office hit movies. But should they add WWRY to that list? Me, I have mixted emotions on the fact. I would of course, see it if they did create a film, but would anyone else?

For me it will depend upon who's cast to play the roles. If they cast someone like Peirce Brosnand as Khashoggi and got him to sing I would throw a fit - it was quite cringeworthy watching him sing in Mamma Mia...
But I think I would see it. I just wonder what they would do to change it. You if they would add more scenes and what they would be like...

I think they shouldn't not yet anyways. The show doesn't have the status yet that it needs to have to get the movie they deserve. It needs to be a movie that is true to the original and true to the songs it was based on. Not a movie that is mostly used to attract new audiences and to make more money. WWRY is so much more than just flat entertainment. It's the treat in the show, the possiblity that the things we see in there could really happen, that makes the show so amazing. They have to preserve that feeling. It's entertainment with a sharp edge.
At least to me. I would like to know what you think.

Actually ... status or not the fact that it's a Queen musical would have stars lining up to do it. I mean, most of the cast of Mamma Mia signed up because they were fans of Abba, not because they were fans of the show.
I agree about the feeling thing; wwry is one of the few shows that unless it's seen live the same effect isn't really achieved, but I would like to think that if they did chose to do a movie version, they would possibly use aspects of the workshop script, as that would kinda pad out the movie.
I'd like for them to 'do a RENT' in terms of casting - though Gaz and Scara would need to be recast ,..

I wonder if they'll wait for it to finish it's run onstage before making the film or if they'll actually make the film whilst its still running...
It will be different, without a doubt. But then again nothing can beat the thrill you get when you go and watch it on stage.

I know what you mean. I've seen the play 3 times already and every time I see it, it's like a whole new experience. I could never get sick of it.
I guess I wouldn't mind if they made a movie. But it would depend on who gets the lead roles.

I agree with all you guys, it would be great to see it...but I'd be worried incase they fuck it up (although if Brian, Roger & Ben are involved then they wouldn't let it happen) and the cast. If they got some cast that are in the shows now or were in it before that would be best...although with the majority not being well known names, it wouldn't have the same pull as a film with big name actors/actressess in it.

Well, you know Kerry Ellis is quite a name in musical-land now. Since she just finished doing wicked on broadway. I don't know if she'd come back to do the movie though.

It would be great to see Kerry Ellis in it as Meat. I love her voice, she's an amazing singer.
