I went to see WWRY yesterday for the third time at the Panasonic theater in Toronto and I was shocked when I opened up the program for the play. Firstly, Erica Peck and Valerie Stanois wern't there that day, so it was understudies playing the roles of Scaramouche and Oz, they where pretty good. But what really got me going was the change of the cast list. Adam Brazier, who played Khashoggi, left WWRY to practice for his role as an ugly stepsister in the production of Cinderella. Which was upsetting for me because he was an amazing Khashoggi. Everyone in the theater who had seen WWRY before was confused and shocked about the fact that Khashoggi went through a gender change! The role of Khashoggi is now portrayed by Camilla Scott. She's a pretty good singer and actress, but it just wasn't the same.

What the feck? Thats crazy! They'd so better not do that at the other shows. Alex Bourne is a friggin awesome Khashoggi in London. Why the heck did they change it? :S

How random!!! They'd so better not do that at the other shows. Alex Bourne is a friggin awesome Khashoggi in London. Yeah... though it did put the image in my head of Alex and Mazz swapping roles... comedy... ;D

I was very upset when I found out about Adam Brazier leaving, but he had to move on, and I understand that, but I don't see why they just couldn't have Scott Walters, Khashoggi's understudy, step up and take the role? That's what they did when Suzie McNeil left from her role of Oz, the had Valerie Stanois take her place.

It is really odd... maybe they just wanted to try something new?

I still don't like that Khashoggi's a woman now. I mean, I saw the show with Camilla Scott (the new Khashoggi) and she was a very good singer, her voice overpowered Alanna Bridgewater (Killer Queen) thought, it shouldn't do that, it's wrong!

Another thing I have to point out about the fact that Khashoggi is a women now, is that they have to make some serious rewrites in the script. Some stuff in the play just sounds wrong now, coming from a women.

Are they keeping it like that perminantly? Or is it a temporary thing?

I have a feeling that it's permanent because on the official website for the Toronto show, they changed all the pictures of Adam Braizier as Khashoggi to Camilla Scott. And I don't think they will change it back to a man now because the play sadly only has a few months left on stage. It's closing on January 4th. Unless they extend it again by popular demand...
